The Gym and the Boiler

What is the relevance?  You might ask.

Well, the story began a month ago on a relatively cold  summer morning…

I was in the midst of my shower while I heard a ‘click’ from the boiler room next door.  Funny, I thought as I never heard it before.  After I applied shampoo, I realised that water got intolerably cold.  Instinctively, I turned up the hot water supply.  Water got colder.  Eventually, I found myself in a situation either to persevere in freezing cold water to finish my shower, or to arrive work with shampoo on my head.
I chose the former and I ended up with a nasty cold.

The boiler decided to go on strike.  I tried to fiddle with the switches and knobs over the subsequent few days but to no avail.  Reading the instruction leaflet, it says ‘…Your boiler should be serviced every year…’.  Looking at the service label, the date written neatly on it ’Serviced on 16/4/02, 15/10/02, 26/3/03, 21/11/03′
Ah, that’s why.

I blame the long shifts and Madeira’s trip that I never had a chance to get my boiler fixed.  The only way to get around it, after consulting various experts, is to pay my local gym a visit and use its shower facilities!
This is how I began to go back to swimming and gym on a daily basis.
Furthermore, I got up early each day as I learnt that the ‘shower queue’ would get very long after half six in the morning.  So to avoid queue, I tried to get there before half six.

LESSON:  How to develop a habit of visiting the gym daily?  Simply, mess up the boiler.

By the way, thought the readers would also like to know that plumbers visited yesterday to fix my boiler…
